Thread Lift

Non-Surgical Face Lift Procedure

PDO Thread Lift procedures treatment involve the placement of a dissolvable COG Thread inserted under the skin by injection. The threads are then manually tightened to create an instant face lift. You’ll see an immediate improvement, with results getting better over time as the dissolvable threads also increase collagen and elastin production to improve skin texture. It’s an excellent option for people looking to achieve instant and natural-looking results.

Polydioxanone

COG Lifting Threads are made of Polydioxanone, which is a dissolvable polymer that was originally developed as a suture for wound closure material within surgery. It is the same material used for PDO Mono Threads, however the COG Lifting Threads have a different structure and is used in a different way.

Thread Lift VS Mono Threads

COG Lifting Threads rely on a mechanical pull of 1-2 threads inserted under the skin via injection. The threads are tightened to instantly lift sagging skin, which inherently reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As the threads dissolve they also encourage more collagen and elastin to be produced by the skin which helps to maintain results.

Mono Threads involves inserting 100 – 200 tiny threads under the skin to target skin laxity and stimulate new collagen production. These are designed to improve skin texture and quality, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and tighten sagging skin.

The number of threads for each treatment  is dependent on patient need and desired result.

Are PDO Threads Safe?

COG Threads are made from PDO which is the same material as a dissolvable suture. Thread Lifts are a safe treatment that has been performed hundreds of thousands of times in Australia and worldwide. It’s a minimally invasive procedure.

Which Areas Can Be Treated With a PDO Thread Lift?

PDO Thread Lifts are a versatile treatment that can be used to improve the appearance of loose skin and lift areas of the face including: brows, nasolabial folds, cheeks and jowls.

When Will I See Results?

You’ll see an immediate improvement to skin laxity following a PDO thread treatment. Results will continue to improve over the next 8-12 weeks as the body produces more collagen and elastin.

How Long Does a PDO Thread Lift Last?

Results from a PDO Thread Lift are long-lasting. You’ll be able to see the final 'settled' results around two months after treatment, with the effects lasting for up to 12 months. The body will absorb the actual PDO threads around 6 months after the treatment. However, the increase in collagen production can last for 12 months or longer, depending on your metabolism, lifestyle, and other factors.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is no extended downtime after a thread lift procedure. You may experience mild swelling and bruising, but most people go straight back to their regular routine.

For the first few days, you should avoid strenuous exercise and saunas and avoid sleeping on your side.

Is a Thread Lift Procedure Painful?

A topical anaesthetic is used to numb the treatment area before cannulas are inserted into the skin. As with all injectables, you may experience mild discomfort and stinging as the local anaesthetic is applied. You may experience some mild bruising and soreness for a few days post-procedure.

Possible Risks and Complications

A thread lift is a low-risk skin tightening treatment. It’s not unusual to experience mild, temporary swelling and bruising in the treated area. You may also feel some soreness and discomfort around the injection sites.

There is a risk of an allergic reaction to the PDO thread material in rare cases. It’s also possible the threads cause temporary lumps under the skin. As with all injectable procedures, there is also a small risk of infection.
