PRP Vampire Facial / PRF Injections

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) / PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) Therapy was designed to accelerate the recovery of tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints using our body's own healing mechanism - plasma. This therapy has also produced significant results in healing skin and soft tissue and so it has been adopted by the cosmetics industry as a way to encourage healthy skin function. As a result, we can use PRP / PRF to treat oily skin, dry skin, dull skin, elasticity, acne, hair loss, fine lines, under eye bags.

The process involves drawing a small amount of blood from your body and placing it in a centrifugal machine which separates the plasma from the red blood cells so that the plasma can be 'needled' back into the body in a concentrated dose to target a specific area.

There are many different machines on the market. At The Cosmetic Hub, we use a medically-approved centrifuge which spins slow enough to not only separate the plasma, but also the white blood cells (infection fighting cells), stem cells (the original building blocks of life), and liquid collagen fibrin (responsible for the natural fibrous network within the body). The resulting product is your own 'liquid gold' - naturally made for you.

In a PRP 'Vampire Facial', we use the collected plasma (et al.) in combination with a skin needling treatment (micro-needling on the skins surface) to stimulate collagen production and relieve almost every skin concern, including acne, inflammation and signs of ageing. There is generally enough plasma collected to treat the full face, neck and decollétage - but it does depend on your body on the day of the treatment.

The plasma can also be injected under the skin (similar to anti-wrinkle) in order to:

- soften fine lines (eg: crows feet)

- plump and rejuvenate the skin (cheeks, forehead, chin)

- reduce the severity of under-eye bags and tear troughs

- stimulate hair follicles to regrow your own hair

We often refer to these injections as PRF injections.

We have listed these treatments separately in our service menu, but ultimately once your plasma has been collected it is up to you on the day to decide how it is used and where it goes!

FAQS

Who is eligible for PRP/PRF?

Whilst the only product being used is your own plasma, our Nurse is still drawing blood and injecting a product, and as a result you must be over 18 years of age, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and in good health to be eligible for a PRP Vampire Facial or PRF Injections.

Can I have any other cosmetic treatments on the day of my appointment?

As the process of drawing your blood and re-injecting (or micro-needling) it back into the body is a semi-invasive procedure, it is not advised to undertake any other treatment on the same day as your PRP/PRF appointment.

Is a Vitamin Infusion painful?

A PRP Vampire Facial (Skin Needling) is similar to a regular Skin Needling treatment. However, PRF Injections can feel the same or slightly more uncomfortable than Anti-Wrinkle injections and so we recommend applying a topical numbing cream prior to your appointment.

Is there any downtime?

A Vampire Facial will leave your skin looking pink for 24-48hours following treatment and as a result you may prefer to spend the rest of the day at home. PRF Injections may cause some minor swelling which will subside within 24-48hours. You will also need to avoid swimming, saunas, excessive sweating and makeup (other than mineral makeup) for 24-48hours following either a PRP/PRF treatment.

How long will I notice the benefits?

Benefits may be maintained by staying hydrated and using a Hyaluronic Acid (hydrating) serum on the skin daily. For best results, 3 treatments around 1 month apart may be recommended. Results can last as long as it takes for your body to metabolise the plasma, which may be a few weeks to a few months.
